Local know-how

What we haul out in Reading

Reading is a town of older single-family homes, and that shapes the work we do here. The colonials, capes, and Georgians around Reading Square, the Highlands, and the West Side were settled long ago (the town dates to 1644), and many have deep basements, walk-up attics, and detached garages that have held belongings for decades. A big share of our Reading jobs are full estate and whole-house cleanouts, often on a closing or listing deadline, plus the downsizing clearouts that come when a longtime owner finally moves on. We work room by room, carry everything out ourselves, and hand you the price before we start.

Most of what we take is the stuff the weekly pickup will not. The town keeps bulky items out of the regular trash and makes you schedule them on the side, so it piles up in the garage near Birch Meadow or in the cellar of a center-entrance colonial off Main Street. That is the load we are built for: the spare fridge, the worn-out couch, the dead treadmill, the dryer, the brush from the yard, and the old TVs and electronics. We sort it, load it, and you only pay for what we actually haul, with no fuel surcharge added at the curb.

Mattresses are their own headache around here. Massachusetts no longer lets mattresses and box springs go in the regular trash, so we haul them off and make sure they are handled the right way, not left on your porch or stuffed in a corner of the basement. The same goes for the bed frames, the box springs in the guest room nobody uses, and the kids’ old furniture once the house in the Joshua Eaton or Killam district turns over. You do not have to figure out the rules. We take it and deal with it.

The calls come from all over Reading: a family clearing a parent’s home near the depot before it sells, a contractor who needs renovation debris gone before the next trade shows up, a couple downsizing out of a four-bedroom colonial on the West Side, a garage or attic that finally hit its limit. Some are a single pickup, some are a multi-day whole-house clear. If your project calls for a dumpster on the street instead, note that a container placed on a public street in Reading needs a permit that the property owner pulls, and we will flag that up front so nothing stalls on the day. We size the crew and the truck to the job, give you the number first, and leave the place broom-clean.

Questions

The stuff people ask first

Still have a question?

Call and we will give you a straight answer, and usually a price, right on the spot.

Call (781) 558-2626

Do you offer same-day pickup in Reading?
Often, yes. Call early and we will tell you straight whether we can reach your Reading block that day.
What does it cost?
Junk removal is priced by how much of the truck the load fills and what it is, not by the hour. You get the number before we load a thing, and you only pay for what we haul.
Do I have to move things to the curb first?
No. We carry it out from wherever it sits, including walk-up attics and basements in older Reading colonials and capes.
Do you take mattresses and box springs?
Yes. Massachusetts no longer allows mattresses and box springs in the regular trash, so we haul them off and make sure they are handled under the state rules. You do not have to deal with it.
Can you take appliances and electronics?
Yes, fridges, washers, dryers, water heaters, TVs, and other e-waste. We carry them out and take care of the disposal so you do not have to.
Do you handle full estate and whole-house cleanouts?
Yes, that is a big part of what we do in Reading. We work room by room through the whole colonial or cape and can hit a closing or listing deadline.
Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Reading?
Not for a junk pickup. Only if you want a dumpster placed on a public street, where the town requires a permit that the property owner pulls. We flag it up front so nothing stalls on the day.
Which parts of Reading do you serve?
All of it: Reading Square and the depot, the Highlands, Birch Meadow, the West Side, and the Joshua Eaton and Killam areas. We also cover nearby Stoneham, Woburn, Wakefield, and Lynnfield, and towns across Greater Boston and southern New Hampshire.
